The seat belt goes through those things at the back. I put the dog double split lead into the next seat belt. They love to sit on their car seat. We have to take it out when we have more children In the car. I have a car seat in the car. It’s folds up easy. Removes to another car or boot When grandchildren are in my car. It’s really soft. And had stopped them scratching my black leather seats. You also hook it over the high head rest on back on seat. Some cars only have this in the front. I think it would have been good if it came with an attached centre think for split lead
